Carson-Newman College is a four year, private, co-ed, Christian, liberal arts college founded in 1851 and affiliated with the Baptist denomination.  C-N is nationally recognized for providing a challenging academic curriculum aligned with an unyielding commitment to instilling Christian values and character. Enrollment is approximately 2,000, including over 175 graduate students. With a student faculty ratio of 13:1 and an average class size of 16, students study in an environment that is challenging yet supportive. Carson-Newman is located in Jefferson City, TN, just 30 minutes from the city of Knoxville. The campus is noted for stately white-column buildings on rolling hills, surrounded by lakes and the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. C-N offers over 50 majors and courses of study. Eight degree options are available including BS, BA, BSM, BSN, and MSN, Med, and MAT. Campus facilities include 25 academic buildings on 90 acres of land. Athletic facilities include a new football complex, soccer field, softball and baseball fields, and tennis courts. The college gymnasium is housed in a 96,000 square foot award-winning student activities center, which includes a pool, weight room, indoor track, three practice courts, racquetball courts, game room and student lounge. The campus bookstore, snack bar, and campus post office are also located in the student activities center. Technology facilities include campus wide wireless access, computer labs in each academic building, a campus wide computer network, telephone, cable television, and computer network hook-ups in each residence hall room. The campus library houses over 200,000 volumes plus numerous forms of electronic media. Students at C-N are involved! There is opportunity for involvement in numerous campus activities, including honor societies, religious, service, ministry, student government, and pre-professional organizations. CN is a member of NCAA Division II athletics and boasts teams in football, basketball, soccer, golf, tennis, track and cross country, baseball, softball and volleyball.

     Never in our history have we faced times of greater need for Christian leadership in our homes, on our campuses, in our businesses and in our government. As the national university of arts, sciences and professions of the Assemblies of God, Evangel's focus for over 50 years has been on training young people for these leadership positions.

Today, more than 27,000 alumni are serving around the world, including such prominent graduates as Admiral Vernon Clark, Chief of U.S. Naval Operations (retired); Congressman Todd Tiahrt (R-Kan.); and Richard Grenell, spokesperson for the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.

Evangel has a strong reputation for academic excellence, offering more than 100 undergraduate programs, as well as graduate programs in Leadership, Psychology and Education. Its staff, curriculum and campus activities focus is on assisting students in the integration of their Christian faith into their chosen career fields.

Evangel is a residential university. Approximately 75 percent of our students live on campus in modern residence halls. The University draws students from all 50 states and many foreign countries.  

COMMUNITY/REGIONAL INFORMATION:

Evangel is nearing the end of an extensive campus renovation and development program, with a focus on students' needs for the new millennium. Since 1997, seven major construction projects have been completed, including two three-story academic buildings, a student fitness center, a student union complex, and the massive Barnett Fine Arts Center.

Springfield was recently named one of "America's 10 Best Places to Live and Work" based on its "thriving economy, first-rate education and superior health care." Employment opportunities are ample. The metro population is more than 155,000, and major cities such as St. Louis and Kansas City are just a three-hour drive.

For those interested in outdoor activities, Springfield is surrounded by the beautiful Ozark Mountain country, featuring lakes and streams for fishing, and parks and trails for hiking. It is the home of the Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World, and the family-oriented theme parks and music shows of Branson, Missouri, are less than an hour away.

Springfield is a college town, with five other colleges and universities nearby. In addition, the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary is adjacent to the Evangel campus. 

STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS

Ministry Groups:

Evangel's student ministry organization, CROSSwalk, sponsors ministry groups and organizes a variety of missions trips each year. In addition, choral and instrumental groups under the auspices of Evangel's Music Department tour nationally and overseas. Each spring, the Science and Technology Department sponsors a medical missions trip to Central/South America or Africa.

Clubs:

More than 40 organized clubs, 10 honor societies and a variety of musical ensembles and student government activities are available for student participation. Students can develop their creative skills by becoming involved in Evangel's nationally recognized student publications, as well as the campus radio and television stations.

Other:

Each semester, students have many opportunities to enjoy Artist Series Events, Staley Lecture Series, concerts, recitals, improvisational comedy performances and drama productions. Activities are also planned by student government, residence halls and academic departments. The intramural sports program provides opportunities to participate in voluntary sports activities. Geneva College is a Christian liberal arts college located about 50 miles north of Pittsburgh.

Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian university of the liberal arts, offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations. Founded in 1897 by the United Brethren in Christ denomination, HU has grown to over 1000 from around the world educating men and women to "impact their world for Christ" through scholarship and service. The school recently established several new programs, including undergraduate degrees in nursing, digital media arts, Spanish, economics and finance, political studies, recreation and sports ministry, social work, and worship leadership. U.S. News & World Report consistently ranks Huntington among the top baccalaureate colleges in the Midwest. Since 2008, Huntington has been named a "best values college" by U.S. News. In 2009, Forbes.com listed Huntington as the top-ranked member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities, an international association of Christ-centered schools. Princeton Review selected Huntington as a "Best in the Midwest" institution in 2009 and 2010.

With low student-faculty ratio, students gain individualized instruction from outstanding faculty. Several students and faculty collaborate together in professional research. Huntington offers a number of study-abroad opportunities through the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities and houses the Huntington University Enterprise Resource Center (ERC), a "connector" between the university and area businesses, not-for-profit organizations, social service agencies, churches and local governments. Our Lady of the Lake University of San Antonio, a private Catholic coeducational institution, is large enough to meet your academic and co-curricular needs but small enough to care about your individual talents. Professors know you by name and give you individual attention in and out of class. You can select a bachelor's degree from more than 60 areas of specialization.
