Geneva College
|
Geneva College is a Christian liberal arts college located about 50 miles north of Pittsburgh.
Founded in 1848 by the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America, Geneva has majors in both liberal arts and pre-professional programs, offering both undergraduate and graduate degrees.
Geneva's faculty seek to provide a challenging education that prepares students for careers, for further education and for life. Faculty in all departments - from engineering to English, from business to biology - are knowledgeable in their fields, are engaging teachers and are adept at helping students to engage learning with a Christian perspective. As importantly, they are equally and wholly committed to students, because we believe that efforts to develop godly wisdom are best done in the context of personal relationships.
In all fields of study, students are challenged to explore the far-reaching implications of the Christian faith on their discipline. Academics at Geneva are based on a simple assumption: that the world belongs to God. This means that each course at Geneva is an exploration of a particular aspect of life in a world that resounds with God's grace in Jesus Christ, but which is also affected by human sinfulness. It means that each field of study is an opportunity to pursue God's calling in learning how to serve wisely and faithfully in God's world. And it means that we challenge students every day in and out of the classroom to develop keen insight in discerning how life in God's world is best lived.
Geneva is a Christian college in the Reformed tradition. The college seeks to prepare students to serve Christ and the world in all areas of society, including work, family and the church.
Geneva is a founding member of the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU).

Top 10 Reasons to Consider John Brown University
1. Academic Reputation. JBU comes highly recommended for academic excellence - accredited for decades, applauded by US News & World Report and the Templeton Foundation, a nationally recognized Honors Program, with graduates that are highly sought after. John Brown University can help you get where you want to go - graduate school or right into a career. 2. Christian commitment. The JBU perspective is strongly evangelical and interdenominational. We love the Lord and we believe the scriptures but we are not associated with any denominational point of view or tradition of worship. We focus on the heart. 3. We know how to work. A JBU education is highly hands-on. We use internships, summer mission trips, projects in our community, and faculty who do what they teach. We offer professional programs in areas like engineering, broadcasting, digital media, construction management and graphic design which complement our strong foundation in the liberal arts. 4. International experience. Our student body is about 20% international with students from approximately 40 different countries. We also send our students out on JBU-led study opportunities in Ireland, Mexico, and Israel, annual art tours in Europe, and many other academic and service related trips offered every year. 5. We're unpretentious (if it's okay to say so). You probably have to visit us to really understand what we mean. JBU is a very friendly place. Our faculty are highly qualified and our students are extremely bright but the atmosphere around JBU is far from puffed-up. The JBU community is fun, accepting, and anxious to serve the Lord 6. Wow! What a great campus. Our facilities are way ahead of the crowd. We have a large and beautiful campus with attractive buildings inside and out. From a technological infrastructure that is cutting edge to a complete health complex, modern wired classrooms to our new science hall, landscaped grounds to a new student center and residence halls.
7. The Ozarks. We are surrounded by a region that offers rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, trout fishing, mountain biking and backpacking, hiking and hang-gliding (not that we recommend it!). We are also surprisingly connected to the more civilized world. It is a short drive to all the shopping, restaurants, and big business.
8. Value. Our promise is that you will get more than you pay for at JBU. Our price of $18,762 is surprisingly low compared to similar schools. We have been blessed with a large endowment that helps to subsidize the cost of offering this caliber of university.
9. Financial Aid. Buying a university education can be very confusing. We offer very generous scholarships and other forms of financial aid. The average student at JBU gets a financial aid package that makes the final expense quite affordable. 10. You CAN get there from here. As an alumnus of JBU, established in a career, educated, skilled and using your gifts for the kingdom of God, wherever the Lord leads, you CAN get there from here.

Seattle Pacific University students, faculty, and alumni are bringing knowledge, skill, faith, and hope to communities worldwide. They're serving disadvantaged youth in South Africa, developing computer languages for the Internet, practicing law in the inner city, and creating nutrition programs for senior citizens.
They're also working in churches, raising families, and participating in public life. In short, they're "engaging the culture, changing the world." One of the few comprehensive Christian universities located in a major urban center, Seattle Pacific is uniquely able to equip students for high-impact roles in today's world.
Scholarship with a difference
Seattle Pacific has been designated one of "America's Best Colleges" by U.S. News & World Report and selected one of the country's "Character Building Colleges" by the Templeton Foundation. Because SPU is a teaching university, you learn from experienced professors, not teaching assistants. Small classes allow you to interact with faculty members, gaining the confidence to express your ideas and pursue academic goals. Students can choose from 54 majors, including some not found in other Christian universities.
The results are exciting. In 2006, 100 percent of SPU's premed students were accepted to medical schools. Our $28 million science facility is enhancing SPU students' preparation for careers in science, teacher education, and health-related professions. The $5.4 million renovation of Otto Miller Hall enhanced student learning in physics, engineering, mathematics, and computer science.
Informed by faith
Seattle Pacific's clear Christian commitment brings depth to the classroom, linking the growth of academic competence with the formation of personal character. The University helps students graduate with a deep, thoughtful faith - and the desire for Christian leadership and service.
Urban options and natural wonders
Seattle Pacific University uses the city of Seattle as a multifaceted classroom. Hundreds of valuable internships give students real-world experience in such diverse places as Microsoft, Boeing, KING-TV, the Seattle Opera, and the Seattle Mariners. Because of its natural assets, the Pacific Northwest region offers unparalleled recreational opportunities, including hiking, skiing, boating, and scuba diving.
Financing your education
SPU takes strong measures to ensure reasonable tuition costs. The University will also provide more than $60 million in scholarships and financial aid to help qualified students attend in 2008-09. The tuition you pay goes directly into the quality of your educational experience, supporting the academic program, faculty, and the latest in learning technology.

You will find belonging in our campus community as you meet new people and build lasting friendships. Discover opportunities that will change the way you think about the world around you and will challenge you to affect and engage your culture. And, at the end of your Trinity experience, you'll leave filled with experience that will help you find your place in the bigger picture.
