While many majors require some off-campus learning experience, all majors offer some type of an internship.  Students have interned at such places as Disney World, Pitney Bowes, ESPN, Channel 22 (NBC affiliate), Yellowstone National Park, Hampden County District Attorney's Office, Morgan Stanley, Baystate Medical Center and hundreds of others.  

The AIC Campus 

The AIC campus combines the excitement and access of an urban campus with the privacy and beauty typically associated with a suburban campus. Our 26 buildings are situated on 60 acres. Among our most notable facilities is the 36,000-sq. ft. Capitol College is located in Laurel, Maryland, midway between Washington, DC and Baltimore. Just off the Baltimore-Washington Parkway, the campus is near NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Patuxent Wildlife Research Center. Capitol College occupies the site of the former Beltsville Speedway.

Campus

The 52-acre Laurel campus consists of academic buildings and residential halls, all in a green, suburban environment.  The academic halls are connected by glass-enclosed pedestrian walkways. The residential halls are apartment-style. Parking is free and readily available. Construction of a new building, the McGowan Academic Center, began in October 2003.

Academic Character

Capitol College fills a unique niche through a program that integrates scientific theory with hands-on experience. The curriculum is designed so students gain practical knowledge, ensuring they are immediately prepared for their professional careers. Enrollment is approximately 2,000, including over 175 graduate students. With a student faculty ratio of 13:1 and an average class size of 16, students study in an environment that is challenging yet supportive. Carson-Newman is located in Jefferson City, TN, just 30 minutes from the city of Knoxville. The campus is noted for stately white-column buildings on rolling hills, surrounded by lakes and the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. C-N offers over 50 majors and courses of study. Athletic facilities include a new football complex, soccer field, softball and baseball fields, and tennis courts. The college gymnasium is housed in a 96,000 square foot award-winning student activities center, which includes a pool, weight room, indoor track, three practice courts, racquetball courts, game room and student lounge. The campus bookstore, snack bar, and campus post office are also located in the student activities center. Technology facilities include campus wide wireless access, computer labs in each academic building, a campus wide computer network, telephone, cable television, and computer network hook-ups in each residence hall room. The campus library houses over 200,000 volumes plus numerous forms of electronic media. Students at C-N are involved! There is opportunity for involvement in numerous campus activities, including honor societies, religious, service, ministry, student government, and pre-professional organizations. CN is a member of NCAA Division II athletics and boasts teams in football, basketball, soccer, golf, tennis, track and cross country, baseball, softball and volleyball.

Though Chatham, founded in 1869, is one of the oldest women's colleges in the United States, the College is constantly evolving and introducing new programs and initiatives to prepare World Ready Women for life after graduation.

One such program, the Five-Year Masters Program, allows students to graduate with both a bachelor's and a master's degree in only five years.  As a first-year undergraduate, students can apply and be conditionally accepted into one of Chatham's graduate degree programs, and will begin graduate-level courses during their senior year.

Another new initiative is the College's PC tablet program.  Each first-year student receives a HP Compaq Tablet PC which she will then own upon graduation.  Faculty members have incorporated the tablets into the curriculum for in-class note-taking, researching, and online learning. 

Finally, the College announced that it would no longer require standardized test scores for undergraduate admissions.  In order to create a more individualized admissions process to reflect Chatham's individualized academic experience, the College will allow undergraduate applicants to submit graded test papers, high school GPA, and portfolios in lieu of ACT or SAT scores.

Chatham's campus has also gone through significant changes in the past few years. With completion of a new Athletic and Fitness Center (AFC), the College converted its old gymnasium into a new Art and Design Center, featuring fine and applied art studios, a computer lab, and classroom space, as well as gallery and student exhibition space.  The AFC is an advanced four-level athletic facility designed as a multi-purpose center for the entire campus.  It includes a fitness center, squash courts, climbing wall, jogging track, eight-lane competition swimming pool, and a smoothie bar.

     Never in our history have we faced times of greater need for Christian leadership in our homes, on our campuses, in our businesses and in our government. As the national university of arts, sciences and professions of the Assemblies of God, Evangel's focus for over 50 years has been on training young people for these leadership positions.

Today, more than 27,000 alumni are serving around the world, including such prominent graduates as Admiral Vernon Clark, Chief of U.S. Naval Operations (retired); Congressman Todd Tiahrt (R-Kan.); and Richard Grenell, spokesperson for the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.

Evangel has a strong reputation for academic excellence, offering more than 100 undergraduate programs, as well as graduate programs in Leadership, Psychology and Education. Its staff, curriculum and campus activities focus is on assisting students in the integration of their Christian faith into their chosen career fields.

Evangel is a residential university. Approximately 75 percent of our students live on campus in modern residence halls. The University draws students from all 50 states and many foreign countries.  

COMMUNITY/REGIONAL INFORMATION:

Evangel is nearing the end of an extensive campus renovation and development program, with a focus on students' needs for the new millennium. Since 1997, seven major construction projects have been completed, including two three-story academic buildings, a student fitness center, a student union complex, and the massive Barnett Fine Arts Center.

Springfield was recently named one of "America's 10 Best Places to Live and Work" based on its "thriving economy, first-rate education and superior health care." Employment opportunities are ample. The metro population is more than 155,000, and major cities such as St. Louis and Kansas City are just a three-hour drive.

For those interested in outdoor activities, Springfield is surrounded by the beautiful Ozark Mountain country, featuring lakes and streams for fishing, and parks and trails for hiking. It is the home of the Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World, and the family-oriented theme parks and music shows of Branson, Missouri, are less than an hour away.

Springfield is a college town, with five other colleges and universities nearby. In addition, the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary is adjacent to the Evangel campus. 

STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS

Ministry Groups:

Evangel's student ministry organization, CROSSwalk, sponsors ministry groups and organizes a variety of missions trips each year. In addition, choral and instrumental groups under the auspices of Evangel's Music Department tour nationally and overseas. Each spring, the Science and Technology Department sponsors a medical missions trip to Central/South America or Africa.

Clubs:

More than 40 organized clubs, 10 honor societies and a variety of musical ensembles and student government activities are available for student participation. Students can develop their creative skills by becoming involved in Evangel's nationally recognized student publications, as well as the campus radio and television stations.

Other:

Each semester, students have many opportunities to enjoy Artist Series Events, Staley Lecture Series, concerts, recitals, improvisational comedy performances and drama productions. Activities are also planned by student government, residence halls and academic departments. The intramural sports program provides opportunities to participate in voluntary sports activities. Geneva College is a Christian liberal arts college located about 50 miles north of Pittsburgh.

Founded in 1848 by the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America, Geneva has majors in both liberal arts and pre-professional programs, offering both undergraduate and graduate degrees.

Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian university of the liberal arts, offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations. Founded in 1897 by the United Brethren in Christ denomination, HU has grown to over 1000 from around the world educating men and women to "impact their world for Christ" through scholarship and service. The school recently established several new programs, including undergraduate degrees in nursing, digital media arts, Spanish, economics and finance, political studies, recreation and sports ministry, social work, and worship leadership. U.S. News & World Report consistently ranks Huntington among the top baccalaureate colleges in the Midwest. Since 2008, Huntington has been named a "best values college" by U.S. News. In 2009, Forbes.com listed Huntington as the top-ranked member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities, an international association of Christ-centered schools. Princeton Review selected Huntington as a "Best in the Midwest" institution in 2009 and 2010.

With low student-faculty ratio, students gain individualized instruction from outstanding faculty. Several students and faculty collaborate together in professional research. Huntington offers a number of study-abroad opportunities through the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities and houses the Huntington University Enterprise Resource Center (ERC), a "connector" between the university and area businesses, not-for-profit organizations, social service agencies, churches and local governments. The ERC provides meaningful "real-world" experiences for Huntington University students, while helping area entities to grow and prosper. Among its notable learning facilities is Huntington University's largest building, a 90,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art Science Hall that houses the Division of Natural and Mathematical Sciences.

The year was 1968, and many females who were pursuing professional endeavors were doing so either as teachers, nurses, or secretaries. However, one woman took a different path to success, as an entrepreneur, and has since made a difference in thousands of people's lives - men and women, alike.

When Jean Baron opened the Long Island Business Institute in Commack, New York, there were seven students, eleven typewriters, and she was the teacher.

Thirty-five years later, Mrs. Baron still is at the helm of the school she founded, having brought it to collegiate status eight years ago. That move has brought LIBI to the point of two campuses (Commack and Flushing), with a total staff of just under 100 and combined student enrollment of 750 pursuing Associate Degree, Diploma and Certificate Programs. Yet, with this growth, LIBI's quaintness, intimacy and the one-on-one relationships between students and faculty that have been carefully molded and have been the school's trademark since Day One remain to this very day, and the rapport is now stronger than ever.

Many of the options that LIBI gives its students are educational opportunities in fields that are in high demand, including Accounting, Administrative Assistant, Billing and Coding, Business Management, Computer Applications, Court Reporting, Legal Secretarial, Medical Secretarial, Medical Transcription, Notary Public, Office Technology, and Title Closing.  Each program has its own specific nuances that bring its individual desirability to the table.

For instance, take the Court Reporting Program. LIBI is one of only three schools in the state of New York, one of only six in the geographic region from Massachusetts to Pennsylvania and one of only 69 schools in the United States and Canada that are approved by the National Court Reporters Association. This makes the students who complete this program part of the low supply/high demand equation, leading to unlimited job opportunities and high salaries.  Come to our college and enroll in any of our two year Associate Degree Programs, which include Accounting, Administrative Assistant, Business Management and Office Technology or the two semester Diploma Programs in Legal and Medical Secretarial, Medical Transcription, and a one semester Computer Applications Certificate Program.

And as diversified as the curriculum offerings are, the same can be said for the student population. Seattle Pacific University students, faculty, and alumni are bringing knowledge, skill, faith, and hope to communities worldwide. They're serving disadvantaged youth in South Africa, developing computer languages for the Internet, practicing law in the inner city, and creating nutrition programs for senior citizens.

Scholarship with a difference

Seattle Pacific has been designated one of "America's Best Colleges" by U.S. News & World Report and selected one of the country's "Character Building Colleges" by the Templeton Foundation. The newest living space on campus, Cashman Hall, is a 124-bed suite-style residence hall designed to incorporate technologically rich, small group discussion areas into the living quarters to further integrate living and learning environments. Founded in 1782, Washington College is the 10th oldest college in America. George Washington, in whose honor the College was named, served as a Trustee from 1784 until 1789 and was awarded the College's first honorary degree. From its inception, Washington College has maintained an unwavering commitment to the liberal arts and sciences. Through diverse curricular offerings, excellent teaching, and engaged learning we develop in our students the habits of analytic thought, aesthetic insight, imagination, ethical sensitivity, and clarity of expression. We choose to maintain an enrollment of approximately 1,250 students and a 12:1 student-to-faculty ratio. Two-thirds of all WC classes have twenty or fewer students making it easy for students and their professors to engage in the exchange of information and ideas. Our 112-acre campus is in historic Chestertown, on Maryland's Eastern Shore.  We are situated in a county with more than 200 miles of water front including a beautiful stretch along the Chester River just a short walk from campus. Location is everything and ours is in the very heart of the Chesapeake Bay region, forty-five minutes from Annapolis and ninety minutes from Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.

WC has over 60 student clubs and 15 NCAA-III varsity sports. Most students stay on-campus over the weekend to participate in various social and recreational activities. Approximately 30% of students attend graduate school in the first year following graduation and approximately 45% do so within five years.
