American International College

Like every other college in your growing pile of brochures, we want you to know who we are.  But at AIC we think it is much more important to understand who you are - and what you want.  Do you want personal attention and incredible support from your professors? Do you want a school where creativity and flexibility rule - where how things could be is just as important as how things are? Do you want the kind of training that stresses internships and experience, makes employers take notice and makes any future possible? Do you want a college that has renowned programs in arts and sciences, business, criminal justice, education, health care and more? Do you want to live with, learn with (and learn from) students representing every corner of the country and every ethnic, cultural and economic slice of the American pie - not to mention 28 countries? Do you want a comfortable campus in a not-too-big, not-too-small city? Then you are in luck!

American International College is an accredited, four-year, coeducational, urban college in Springfield, Massachusetts; founded in 1885.  AIC is top-quality, student-centered education, guided by experienced faculty (one for every 15 students) who are respected in their fields - and who are totally devoted, 24/7 to teaching.  Our faculty includes a former executive producer of NBC Nightly News and a former prosecuting attorney for Hampden (Mass.) County.  Each of the College's accounting department faculty members is a certified public accountant.  Faculty from our nursing, occupational therapy and physical therapy departments continue as practitioners.  Our education department faculty includes several who have been school superintendents, principals and classroom teachers.  Our students benefit by learning from teachers who care about the success of each student and who enrich the quality of their teaching by bringing their professional experiences to the classroom.

Internships

American International College students are often at an advantage in their job search because of the experiences they have had in College-Sponsored internships. Experiential learning is valued at AIC. While many majors require some off-campus learning experience, all majors offer some type of an internship.  Students have interned at such places as Disney World, Pitney Bowes, ESPN, Channel 22 (NBC affiliate), Yellowstone National Park, Hampden County District Attorney's Office, Morgan Stanley, Baystate Medical Center and hundreds of others.

The AIC Campus

The AIC campus combines the excitement and access of an urban campus with the privacy and beauty typically associated with a suburban campus. Our 26 buildings are situated on 60 acres. Among our most notable facilities is the 36,000-sq. ft. Health Science Complex, which includes state-of-the-art classrooms, a beautiful amphitheatre and several labs (including the only anatomical lab in Massachusetts, other than those at medical schools) the Karen Sprague Cultural Arts Center and the Esther B. Griswold Theatre for the Performing Arts; the James J. Shea, Jr. Memorial Library; and the Butova and Metcalf Gymnasiums.  There are six residence halls, each wired for Internet, cable television and telephone access.

Affordable Excellence

AIC offers a quality education at an affordable price.  A generous financial aid program allows us to offer over 80% of our student's financial aid with the average total package being around $14,000. Our institutional financial aid includes need-based grants, academic and merit scholarship and athletic scholarships in some sports.

Augsburg College

Augsburg College

Minneapolis, MN

Experts say that any way you measure it, a college degree is the best investment in one's life. And, an Augsburg College education is more than just a degree - it provides a blueprint for life. Augsburg is a place where you can be yourself while you learn and grow.

As a model of Lutheran education and 21st-century higher learning, Augsburg is a study in diversity, locality, spirituality, and, ultimately, opportunity. While Augsburg has more than 50 undergraduate majors and six master's degree programs, it's what lies beyond the classroom that prepares students for both their careers and lives of service.

·        It's a liberal arts perspective spanning across business and language, to service and artistic expression, and beyond.

·        It's small classes, all taught by professors who also become your advisers and mentors.

·        It's internships, service-learning experiences, and research that augment the academic with the practical.

·        It's dynamic opportunity for study abroad through a nationally recognized Center for Global Education.

·        It's support for students with physical, psychological, or learning disabilities through dedicated programs that encourage independence and success.

·        It's pioneering leadership in multicultural student services through American Indian, Pan-Afrikan, Pan-Asian, and Hispanic/Latino programs.

Augsburg also is defined by a unique juxtaposition: a small, intimate campus inside a vibrant, metropolitan community. The college capitalizes on this setting by drawing on and contributing to the resources of the city as an extension of campus and classroom.

At the same time, Augsburg students participate in an abundance of cultural and recreational activities.  Theatre, dance, music, the visual arts, sports, outdoor activities, parks, and the Cities' famous lakes are just minutes from the campus.

More than 50 on-campus clubs and organizations ranging from academic societies and music to campus ministry and athletics also give students opportunity for involvement, entertainment, and personal growth. And, as a college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Augsburg maintains a spiritual commitment shaped by Christian values without requiring religious conformity. In fact, students come to Augsburg from virtually every faith and walk of life. Spirituality at Augsburg means more than religion. It also means concern for others, reflected by our students and graduates alike who match their talents, education, eagerness, and service to the needs and greater good of the community.

More than 80 percent of Augsburg students receive financial aid, many up to or exceeding 50 percent of the total cost, to help make an Augsburg education affordable. An experienced and knowledgeable financial services staff are there from the beginning to provide individual counseling so students and their families can make informed choices about how to finance a private college education.

Live, study, and grow at Augsburg College. You'll be challenged to take hold of learning in new ways that nurture your own gifts and passions. Check out our Web site for more information about how an Augsburg education can be affordable and right for you - www.augsburg.edu.

Chatham College

Though Chatham, founded in 1869, is one of the oldest women's colleges in the United States, the College is constantly evolving and introducing new programs and initiatives to prepare World Ready Women for life after graduation.

One such program, the Five-Year Masters Program, allows students to graduate with both a bachelor's and a master's degree in only five years.  As a first-year undergraduate, students can apply and be conditionally accepted into one of Chatham's graduate degree programs, and will begin graduate-level courses during their senior year.

Another new initiative is the College's PC tablet program.  Each first-year student receives a HP Compaq Tablet PC which she will then own upon graduation.  Faculty members have incorporated the tablets into the curriculum for in-class note-taking, researching, and online learning.

Finally, the College announced that it would no longer require standardized test scores for undergraduate admissions.  In order to create a more individualized admissions process to reflect Chatham's individualized academic experience, the College will allow undergraduate applicants to submit graded test papers, high school GPA, and portfolios in lieu of ACT or SAT scores.

Chatham's campus has also gone through significant changes in the past few years. With completion of a new Athletic and Fitness Center (AFC), the College converted its old gymnasium into a new Art and Design Center, featuring fine and applied art studios, a computer lab, and classroom space, as well as gallery and student exhibition space.  The AFC is an advanced four-level athletic facility designed as a multi-purpose center for the entire campus.  It includes a fitness center, squash courts, climbing wall, jogging track, eight-lane competition swimming pool, and a smoothie bar.

Chatham College provides its more than 1,700 students - both undergraduate and graduate - with a solid education built upon strong academics, public leadership and global perception.  Chatham also offers graduate studies, continuing education and certification programs for women and men.  Chatham students may register for classes at any of Pittsburgh's eight other colleges and universities including Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh. The 32-acre arboretum campus is located on historic Woodland Road in the Shadyside section of Pittsburgh.  For more information call 800-837-1290 or visit www.chatham.edu.

Geneva College

Geneva College

Geneva College is a Christian liberal arts college located about 50 miles north of Pittsburgh.

Founded in 1848 by the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America, Geneva has majors in both liberal arts and pre-professional programs, offering both undergraduate and graduate degrees.

Geneva's faculty seek to provide a challenging education that prepares students for careers, for further education and for life. Faculty in all departments - from engineering to English, from business to biology - are knowledgeable in their fields, are engaging teachers and are adept at helping students to engage learning with a Christian perspective.  As importantly, they are equally and wholly committed to students, because we believe that efforts to develop godly wisdom are best done in the context of personal relationships.

In all fields of study, students are challenged to explore the far-reaching implications of the Christian faith on their discipline. Academics at Geneva are based on a simple assumption: that the world belongs to God. This means that each course at Geneva is an exploration of a particular aspect of life in a world that resounds with God's grace in Jesus Christ, but which is also affected by human sinfulness. It means that each field of study is an opportunity to pursue God's calling in learning how to serve wisely and faithfully in God's world. And it means that we challenge students every day in and out of the classroom to develop keen insight in discerning how life in God's world is best lived.

Geneva is a Christian college in the Reformed tradition. The college seeks to prepare students to serve Christ and the world in all areas of society, including work, family and the church.

Geneva is a founding member of the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU).

John Brown University

Top 10 Reasons to Consider John Brown University

1.
Academic Reputation. JBU comes highly recommended for academic excellence - accredited for decades, applauded by US News & World Report and the Templeton Foundation, a nationally recognized Honors Program, with graduates that are highly sought after. John Brown University can help you get where you want to go - graduate school or right into a career.
2.
Christian commitment. The JBU perspective is strongly evangelical and interdenominational. We love the Lord and we believe the scriptures but we are not associated with any denominational point of view or tradition of worship.  We focus on the heart.
3.  We know how to work. A JBU education is highly hands-on. We use internships, summer mission trips, projects in our community, and faculty who do what they teach.  We offer professional programs in areas like engineering, broadcasting, digital media, construction management and graphic design which complement our strong foundation in the liberal arts.
4.   International experience. Our student body is about 20% international with students from approximately 40 different countries. We also send our students out on JBU-led study opportunities in Ireland, Mexico, and Israel, annual art tours in Europe, and many other academic and service related trips offered every year.
5.   We're unpretentious (if it's okay to say so). You probably have to visit us to really understand what we mean. JBU is a very friendly place. Our faculty are highly qualified and our students are extremely bright but the atmosphere around JBU is far from puffed-up. The JBU community is fun, accepting, and anxious to serve the Lord
6.  Wow! What a great campus. Our facilities are way ahead of the crowd. We have a large and beautiful campus with attractive buildings inside and out. From a technological infrastructure that is cutting edge to a complete health complex, modern wired classrooms to our new science hall, landscaped grounds to a new student center and residence halls.

7.  The Ozarks. We are surrounded by a region that offers rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, trout fishing, mountain biking and backpacking, hiking and hang-gliding (not that we recommend it!). We are also surprisingly connected to the more civilized world.  It is a short drive to all the shopping, restaurants, and big business.

8.  Value.  Our promise is that you will get more than you pay for at JBU. Our price of  $18,762 is surprisingly low compared to similar schools. We have been blessed with a large endowment that helps to subsidize the cost of offering this caliber of university.

9.  Financial Aid. Buying a university education can be very confusing. We offer very generous scholarships and other forms of financial aid. The average student at JBU gets a financial aid package that makes the final expense quite affordable.
10.  You CAN get there from here. As an alumnus of JBU, established in a career, educated, skilled and using your gifts for the kingdom of God, wherever the Lord leads, you CAN get there from here.

tudents will also assess and study the operation of a new hydrogen technology park, a five-year pilot project developed by DTE Energy. The first and largest facility of its type in the world, the hydrogen technology park will give Lawrence Tech students opportunities to study the extraction of hydrogen from water for storage and distribution, hydrogen refueling, and power generation using fuel cell technology.

Focusing on leadership through theory and practice, Lawrence Tech seeks to help students understand not only why something should work, but also how it works in real life situations. Consequently, many programs encourage students to participate in professional projects in which they solve real problems facing practicing architects, engineers, managers, and scientists. Through co-op, part-time work, internships, student projects, and participation in professional organizations, students network with leaders in their chosen fields.

Faculty members combine top academic credentials with successful industry experience, exposing students to the practical applications of theory in professional fields. Professors, not graduate assistants, teach all classes. This distinction, along with a 12:1 student-to-faculty ratio, allows for individual attention and close interaction between students and faculty.

Lawrence Tech's modern 120-acre campus in suburban Southfield provides a full range of academic facilities. Some 600 students live on campus in two residence halls, and nearly 40 student clubs and organizations are available to meet the interests of a diverse student population. These include intramural and club sports, sororities, fraternities, religious organizations, campus publications, student government, and honor and professional societies.

The University also offers convenient programs at Education Centers in southeastern and northern Michigan, as well as international programs in Canada, China, Germany, Mexico, and Taiwan.

Each year, Lawrence Tech's Office of Financial Aid helps approximately 70 percent of students receive financial assistance, which totals nearly $25 million annually. Scholarships are available on both a scholastic and need basis.

Long Island Business Institute

The year was 1968, and many females who were pursuing professional endeavors were doing so either as teachers, nurses, or secretaries. However, one woman took a different path to success, as an entrepreneur, and has since made a difference in thousands of people's lives - men and women, alike.

When Jean Baron opened the Long Island Business Institute in Commack, New York, there were seven students, eleven typewriters, and she was the teacher.

Thirty-five years later, Mrs. Baron still is at the helm of the school she founded, having brought it to collegiate status eight years ago. That move has brought LIBI to the point of two campuses (Commack and Flushing), with a total staff of just under 100 and combined student enrollment of 750 pursuing Associate Degree, Diploma and Certificate Programs. Yet, with this growth, LIBI's quaintness, intimacy and the one-on-one relationships between students and faculty that have been carefully molded and have been the school's trademark since Day One remain to this very day, and the rapport is now stronger than ever.

Many of the options that LIBI gives its students are educational opportunities in fields that are in high demand, including Accounting, Administrative Assistant, Billing and Coding, Business Management, Computer Applications, Court Reporting, Legal Secretarial, Medical Secretarial, Medical Transcription, Notary Public, Office Technology, and Title Closing.  Each program has its own specific nuances that bring its individual desirability to the table.

For instance, take the Court Reporting Program. LIBI is one of only three schools in the state of New York, one of only six in the geographic region from Massachusetts to Pennsylvania and one of only 69 schools in the United States and Canada that are approved by the National Court Reporters Association. This makes the students who complete this program part of the low supply/high demand equation, leading to unlimited job opportunities and high salaries.  Come to our college and enroll in any of our two year Associate Degree Programs, which include Accounting, Administrative Assistant, Business Management and Office Technology or the two semester Diploma Programs in Legal and Medical Secretarial, Medical Transcription, and a one semester Computer Applications Certificate Program.

And as diversified as the curriculum offerings are, the same can be said for the student population. From recent high school graduates and those who have completed college and are still unsure of what they want to do, to people who have been down-sized, to single mothers who now have to support themselves, and parents who want to alleviate the empty-nest syndrome, each student is treated as an individual, with all receiving the same care, compassion and concern.

Yet, no matter the background or which program one selects, each student is guaranteed a top-of-the-line quality education, unlimited job placement, free refresher courses and friends and memories to last a lifetime.

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College

Preparing Women to Lead for more than 160 years

Excellence in academics
With a challenging academic atmosphere and a strong support system, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College is recognized as a proven leader in educating women for professional roles. The College offers more than 30 majors, a wide selection of courses, International Exchange program, extensive career development resources and opportunities to cross-enroll in courses at nearby institutions.

SMWC's highly personalized liberal arts education is designed to last a lifetime and to provide students with the flexibility and confidence necessary to succeed in an ever-changing world. Through small, seminar-style classes, hands-on learning opportunities and one-on-one tutorials with professors, students become self-directed learners with the ability to think critically, solve problems and communicate effectively.

Leadership opportunities
SMWC offers a vibrant campus environment with exceptional opportunities for students to get involved. Approximately 30 campus organizations, including academic clubs, honorary societies, performing groups, campus publications, student government and special-interest clubs and organizations, are available for students with varying interests. If a club or organization does not exist to meet a student's interests, she is encouraged to work with the Student Development staff to create a new club.

SMWC values intellectual development while emphasizing students' social, emotional and physical development as well. Involvement in campus clubs and organizations helps students to develop valuable skills-teamwork, leadership, and communication-that are important in any career. SMWC prides itself on giving students every opportunity to achieve success, to redefine the possible, and to determine their own path.

Tradition and innovation
Founded in 1840 by Blessed Mother Theodore Guerin and five other Sisters of Providence, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College is the oldest Catholic liberal arts college for women in the United States.

People visiting SMWC for the first time are impressed not only by our picturesque 67-acre campus, but also because we provide what many women are looking for in a college: a rich liberal arts education, affordability, an ideal location in the Midwest, individual attention, a rich experience for both residents and commuters, a value-centered education in a Catholic tradition, quality athletic programs, and a wide variety of student leadership activities.

SMWC has also established itself as a leader in preparing and educating women. SMWC was the first women's college to offer courses in journalism and the first to offer degree work in secondary education. This tradition continues today as academic offerings are constantly being updated to keep pace with demands in society.

Strength in diversity
Since its founding 160 years ago, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College has been a place where women who recognize the value of learning from people of diverse ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds come to learn about themselves, their neighbors, and the world at large.

The College is committed to providing women with a challenging academic environment, leadership and volunteer opportunities, field experiences, and strong heritage and traditions. Students are encouraged to think across disciplinary boundaries, take intellectual and creative risks and blend their academic experiences with their own values, beliefs and concerns. By combining a challenging and fulfilling academic atmosphere with a heightened awareness of the strength found in diversity, SMWC prepares women for a lifetime of leading, learning, working and serving the world.

Athletics
SMWC students have a reputation for excelling in the classroom, but they are also known for their hard work and efforts on the field, the court, and in the arena. The College fields teams in basketball, soccer and softball through the United States Collegiate Athletic Association, and The Woods also has an equestrian team that competes in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association.

Whatever the sport, SMWC is dedicated to promoting athletic excellence and sportsmanship. All teams have achieved significant levels of success, including the equestrian team, which finished as high as seventh in the IHSA National Competition, and the softball team, which has won national championships four out of the last seven years.

Affordable private education
Because the rising cost of education is a significant consideration for many students and their families when selecting a college, SMWC has made a major commitment to making a private education affordable. In fact, the College thrives today as one of the most affordable Catholic colleges for women from the Northeast through the Midwest.

With more than 90 percent of SMWC students receiving financial aid, the College offers a variety of financial aid options that include merit-based scholarship, need-based grants, activity-based scholarships and grants, state and federal aid, work-study, and loans. To be considered for all types of financial aid, students are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Seattle Pacific University

Seattle Pacific University students, faculty, and alumni are bringing knowledge, skill, faith, and hope to communities worldwide. They're serving disadvantaged youth in South Africa, developing computer languages for the Internet, practicing law in the inner city, and creating nutrition programs for senior citizens.

They're also working in churches, raising families, and participating in public life. In short, they're "engaging the culture, changing the world." One of the few comprehensive Christian universities located in a major urban center, Seattle Pacific is uniquely able to equip students for high-impact roles in today's world.

Scholarship with a difference

Seattle Pacific has been designated one of "America's Best Colleges" by U.S. News & World Report and selected one of the country's "Character Building Colleges" by the Templeton Foundation. Because SPU is a teaching university, you learn from experienced professors, not teaching assistants. Small classes allow you to interact with faculty members, gaining the confidence to express your ideas and pursue academic goals. Students can choose from 54 majors, including some not found in other Christian universities.

The results are exciting. In 2006, 100 percent of SPU's premed students were accepted to medical schools. Our $28 million science facility is enhancing SPU students' preparation for careers in science, teacher education, and health-related professions. The $5.4 million renovation of Otto Miller Hall enhanced student learning in physics, engineering, mathematics, and computer science.

Informed by faith

Seattle Pacific's clear Christian commitment brings depth to the classroom, linking the growth of academic competence with the formation of personal character. The University helps students graduate with a deep, thoughtful faith - and the desire for Christian leadership and service.

Urban options and natural wonders

Whether it is working on the foreign mission field, working with inner city nonprofits, attending seminary or cultivating a godly family, our alumni can attest to the life changing impact SAU has had on their lives.

Become a lifelong learner

We take academic scholarship very seriously at SAU. As a liberal arts university, we introduce you to a broad spectrum of ideas and concepts. You won't get lost in a sea of people, either, with a 1:15 faculty-to-student ratio, and a faculty that is passionate about their subjects and their students. On top of everything, we give you an outlet for applying what you're learning to real life. Because SAU espouses a global perspective, students are required to spend at least three weeks in a foreign culture, gaining a better understanding of the world around them and learning, first-hand, how to be a world-changer.

Find community

Get an authentic college experience at SAU! Engage in fun, wacky college stuff, but also find opportunities to grow in your relationship with others and with Christ. We truly model what it means to live as a community of believers. Our student development staff is ready to make your college experience incredible and the friendships you make will likely last a lifetime. With a wide range of activities and student-led organizations right at your fingertips, you'll never want for something to do.  One of the best expressions of this tight-knit community is our chapel service, which happens twice a week. Here the entire campus unites together under the banner of Christ to worship Him, learn about Him from world-renown speakers, and commit their lives to Him.

Easily afford college

SAU has a reputation for being one of the most affordable Christian universities. U.S. News & World Report consistently recognizes SAU as an institution that helps students graduate with the least amount of debt. And with a 75 percent freshman retention rate, we know we are doing the best job we can both in making college affordable and meaningful.

St. Michael's College

Saint Michael's College is a residential Catholic liberal arts college committed to creating a life-changing educational experience for students from throughout New England, the nation and the world.

Situated on 440 scenic acres overlooking Burlington and Lake Champlain, with superlative views of Vermont's Green Mountains, Saint Michael's combines the bustle of a busy college town with the splendor and challenge of a spectacular four-season wilderness. Living on campus involves some 1900 undergraduate students in a community characterized by lifelong volunteer service, global perspectives and exceptional teaching in traditional arts and sciences as well as contemporary fields of study.  Saint Michael's is further enriched by 200 international students in the School of International Studies, one of the nation's oldest intensive English language institutes.

Ranked among the 15 finest master's universities in the North by U.S. News and World Report, Saint Michael's grounds its 29 majors, along with pre-law and pre-medical programs, in an extensive liberal arts core and a commitment to exceptional teaching. With a student-faculty ratio of 13:1, students are ensured personal attention from their professors, nearly 90 percent of whom hold Ph.D.s or the terminal degree in their field.

"Community" is as much verb as noun for students at Saint Michael's, which has been named a "Character Building College" by the Templeton Foundation. Saint Michael's was founded in 1904 by the Society of Saint Edmund, a French order of priests known for living their commitment to social justice and for keeping a passion for service alive by making it a core value of this college, the one and only Edmundite college in the world. Today, more than 70 percent of the student body actively pursues community service projects at Saint Michael's through M.O.V.E., Mobilization of Volunteer Efforts, an office of the Edmundite Campus Ministry.

With nearly 95 percent of undergraduates living on campus, residential life is designed to encourage immersion in academic pursuits, co-curricular activities and the pure enjoyment of the college years and the Vermont experience. Housing choices range from the traditional dormitory to townhouse-style apartments, from GREAT housing for those desiring completely substance-free environments to themed housing in which student groups meld a service project into their living space, and use that space to teach others about their project. The newest living space on campus, Cashman Hall, is a 124-bed suite-style residence hall designed to incorporate technologically rich, small group discussion areas into the living quarters to further integrate living and learning environments. Two additional new residence halls are planned in the near future and will help the College move toward a goal of 100 percent on-campus living.

A vibrant campus experience encompasses everything from sports to academic enrichment, to the fine and performing arts, to the unique international character of the college.  Saint Michael's Tarrant Recreation Center and Ross Sports Center host Northeast-10 competitions and house 21 varsity and intercollegiate sports. Students also have exceptional access to Vermont's great outdoors through our acclaimed Wilderness Program.
